►Eat Static is an electronic music project from Frome, Somerset, England formed in 1989 by Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton.
Although most often associated with the psychedelic trance genre, the band actually span almost all forms of dance music, including trance, techno, gabber, drum and bass, and breakbeat. As such they are well-compared to other hard-to-categorise children of the British rave scene, like The Prodigy, Underworld, Orbital, Aphex Twin and Leftfield. At Flowers of Life Arena we’ll have a DJ-set by Merv Peppler.
►Texas Faggott, released by Australian Psy-Harmonics label in 1999, is the first commercially successful Suomisaundi record. The album was also likely to have been among the first to create interest within the traditional trance crowd.
The popularity of Texas Faggott grew amongst the Finnish trance scene with their second release, Petoman’s Peflett in 2001. Group member Tim Thick has been an active promoter of Finnish psy-trance, as he established and operated Thixx’n’Dixx (http://thixxndixx.stc.cx/) in 2000, a site offering free MP3 downloads from almost all of the existing Finnish psy-trance artists including tracks from his own groups.
► Koneveljet was formed in 1996, originally the band was an ambient side project to the Finnish “techno-jazz” group Rinneradio. The band soon found themselves adding more rhythmic elements to their music and nowadays Koneveljet have proven to be a definite floor filler on their gigs in Finland and abroad. Their energetic clubsets include music ranging from trance to big beat and are spiced with generous helpings of tongue in cheek humour, they even include an aerobic workout in their performance!
